Edmund Kemper, a hulking giant on trial for the slayings of eight women, tried to kill himself in his cell Sunday, deputies said, and they had to use chemical mace to overpower him. Kemper, 24, lost about four pints of blood when he cut an artery with a sharpened ball point pen, according to San Meteo County Sheriff’s Sgt Robert Cancilla. “He fought like hell and said he would kill anyone who came into his cell to help him.” Cancilla said. Kemper is on trial in Santa Cruz for the slayings of six coeds, his mother and a friend of hers. He was moved to the jail here in May after a suicide attempt in Santa Cruz. Deputies said the 6’9, 260-pound Kemper cut his right wrist and lost the blood in about four minutes.

Ahmad Suradji was a serial killer from Indonesia, responsible for the ritual murders of forty-two young females. He maintained that his father’s ghost visited him in a dream and told him to “kill seventy women and drink their saliva” in order to become a mystic healer. His incestuous sister-wives were implicated in the ritual murders, wherein women and girls ranging in age from eleven to thirty were strangled with a cable, after being buried waist-deep in dirt. Suradji was executed by firing squad in 2008.
By summer 1991, Dahmer was murdering approximately one person each week. He killed Matt Turner on June 30, Jeremiah Weinberger on July 5, Oliver Lacy on July 12, and finally Joseph Brandehoft on July 19. Dahmer got the idea that he could turn his victims into “zombies” — completely submissive, eternally youthful sexual partners – and attempted to do so by drilling holes into their skulls and injecting hydrochloric acid or boiling water into the frontal lobe area of their brains with a large syringe, usually while the victim was still alive. Other residents of the Oxford Apartments complex noticed terrible smells coming from Apartment 213, as well as the thumps of falling objects and the occasional buzzing of a power saw. Unlike many serial killers, Dahmer killed victims from a variety of racial backgrounds.
